What is Nanotechnology?

What is nanotechnology, and why must you care? Before we get too technical, try this: acquire something that's near you - anything. it would be a glass. Or a smartphone. or perhaps a T-shirt - it doesn't really matter what. Now, give some thought to what this thing does well. It might be holding water. Or chasing Pokémon. Or if you're brooding about that tee-shirt, making you're feeling awesome! Then consider what it doesn't do so well. Perhaps smashing once you drop it. Or running out of power, just after you need it. Or, considering that shirt still, smelling of BO after you've worn it for a pair of days. it'd not be obvious, but all of those things - the nice stuff and therefore the bad – depend upon the individual atoms that frame the items around us. And importantly, how they're put together. 

          It is a bit sort of a car working thanks to how all the individual bits are arranged. it is not just a case of getting four wheels, an engine and a wheel. all of them should be within the right place if you would like a car that gets you to where you are going, without falling apart. Of course, atoms are a small amount smaller than the wheels on a car. But the identical idea holds. How the various atoms in something are arranged can affect things like, how strong or how weak it's. Or if it conducts electricity. Or if you'll be able to see through it. or perhaps what it looks like. In fact, just about anything that the things around you does, it does due to how all the various atoms it's made from are put together. And this includes the items that you simply don't desire stuff to try to to, like breaking, or smelling, or running out of power. 

          If we were really smart after all, we'd make the things around us work better, just by doing a much better job of arranging the various atoms it's made from. And if we were smarter still, we could make totally new stuff by putting atoms together in ways in which we've never done before. We could even start to make stuff that behaves in quite unusual ways, because once you start fooling around with atoms, you'll tap into some really weird physics. the difficulty is, atoms are really small - over 1,000,000 times smaller than the tip of your pinkie finger. which means they don't seem to be that easy to figure with. But over the past few years, scientists and engineers became increasingly good at designing and engineering materials down at the amount of atoms, or small groups of atoms. and since this new technology involves doing stuff at such a moment scale, it's called nanotechnology. 

          Using their news skills, nanotechnologists are commencing to cool stuff like creating materials that are particular at turning sunlight into energy. Or using nonoscopically small particles to deliver anti-cancer drugs. or perhaps turning polluted water into drinkable water. They're even finding new ways to form glass that does not break after you drop it. Batteries that last longer. And even tee shirts that smell fresh after you've worn them for some days. this can be really powerful tech. It's helping us to try to to stuff we couldn't even dream of just some years ago. But because nanotechnology is so powerful, we want to be really careful how we use it- just just in case we find yourself causing more problems than we solve. The very last thing we wish is to create better solar cells that also destroy the environment. Get information about better living ways.Or design more efficient water filters that just happen to cause more pollution. due to this, scientists et al are working hard to form sure we develop and use nanotechnology responsibly. But this is not just all the way down to nanotechnologists. It's something everyone may be a part of. Because, at the top of the day, it's up to us to make your mind up just what proportion we wish nanotechnology enabled products. And what we're willing to place up with to urge them.
